      Description

The Manchester Evening News arena (M.E.N arena) opened in 1995 when it was known as the NYNEX Arena, after its original sponsor NYNEX CableComms. In 1997, the NYNEX brand name disappeared as the result of a merger, but it wasn't until 1998, that the venue officially became The Manchester Evening News arena.

With a capacity of 21,000, the Manchester Evening News Arena is the largest indoor arena in Europe and one of the busiest music venues in the entire world, attracting over one million people annually.

The Manchester Evening News Arena has drawn and continues to draw some of the biggest names in music to its stage; Kylie Minogue, U2, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Beyoncé, The Police, Pearl Jam, Sting, Justin Timberlake, Usher, John Mayer, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Rhianna, Michael Bublé, Take That and Westlife are just a few of the acts to have featured on The Manchester Evening News arena schedule over the years.

In addition to concerts, The Manchester Evening News Arena has played host to many sporting events, including basketball, boxing, WWE matches, mixed martial arts, ice skating and monster truck racing, as well as stand-up comedy. In fact, in 2009, local comedian Peter Kay smashed box office records when his entire spring Manchester Evening News Arena residency (20 nights) sells out in one hour.
