MGL SCHOOL COMPUTING CONFERENCE Keynote Speaker This year we are delighted to welcome Joe Moretti as our guest speaker. Joe is an International Distinguished Educator with over 30 years' teaching experience from primary to higher education. Originally a music specialist, his role developed during his teaching career to become one of the education’s leading curriculum innovators in the creative use of IT across all subjects. Swift Playgrounds Swift Playgrounds is a new app that allows users to programme and create their own learning environments and interactive worlds. Whether used as a way to teach programming and coding or as a platform to introduce problem solving to pupils, this revolutionary app has the potential to change the way we look at creative learning. This workshop will provide teachers with a hands on opportunity to learn about the app and consider its application in the classroom. Cospaces Cospaces EDU is an Augmented/Virtual Reality app that allows users to create their own 3D objects. CoSpaces Edu enables students to learn by doing, using the various tools available with the technology. All features in CoSpaces Edu can be adapted to fit different class subjects and learning objectives. This workshop will look at how the app works and illustrate its potential across the curriculum. VEX Robotics VEX Robotics is the world’s fastest growing robotics programme for primary and high schools. MGL’s Teaching Team will demonstrate its potential impact in the classroom, setting delegates a series of robot challenges throughout the day. STEM Challenges Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is fast becoming a significant theme within the curriculum. These fun activities highlight how IT can be used in the delivery of STEM Projects and how these projects can also be mapped across the wider curriculum.  Gaming and Online Safety Online gaming allows players of all ages to engage in real time with people across the world through a computer, games console, tablet or smartphone connected to the internet. Games can offer children a world of adventure to immerse themselves in, but it’s important to understand how children can stay safe and what games are appropriate for their age. Carl Gilbertson, Managing Director of MGL, will offer some practical advice on the safe management of gaming platforms inside and outside of school.
